I am glad you have joined me. I am a native Texan but lived in Oregon for many years and now reside in beautiful Colorado. I enjoy sharing my life with my husband, two sons and two dogs. I love to be active in the outdoors, and traveling to see new places in the world while experiencing different cultures. My self-care tools are time with friends, walking, reading, and baking for others.
On a professional level, I have worked in the field of helping others since early college. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado, Washington and California. I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A & M University and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Texas. I became a TBRI practitioner in 2008 under Dr. Karyn Purvis. I have been licensed in multiple states and have worked in various areas in the field, including Child Protective Services, hospitals, schools, higher education, adoption agencies, and this private practice. Through all these career stages, my goal has always been to serve others. I have worked with many families, with a special interest in adoptive families. Adoption has always been part of my life, and I have been honored to help many children join their forever families. The process of forming a new family bring many feelings, and challenges so I utilize TBRI skills to support adoptive families both pre and post adoption.
Other demographics I have experience working with are teens, young adults, adults, families and mothers who are trying to do it all. Relational connection is vital for a healthy and happy life. Anyone experiencing a planned or unplanned life change can benefit from external support and guidance. I am a trauma informed therapist and have years of experience working with individuals who have experienced childhood or later in life trauma. Understanding the impact of trauma is the first step in the healing process. Depression and anxiety can alter your day-to-day life and negatively affect relationships, education, your career and most importantly how you view yourself. I can help you learn to control and protect your mental health so your day-to-day life can reach its fullest potential. I have a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment. Emphasizing equality and ensuring everyone feels safe and valued is incredibly important, both personally and professionally. I am committed to fostering a collaborative, comfortable space where mutual respect is key. This contributes to a positive, productive atmosphere, and helps build trust and openness during our time together.
